1. Electric Avenue – Eddie Grant

Released in 1982 from the Album Killer on the Rampage, Eddie Grant has a number of absolute classic 80s tunes and this tune is right up there with one of the best songs with electric in the title.

The song was Eddie’s response to the London riots in the 80s which were illuminated by lightning.

Hence the naming of the street Electric Avenue in Brixton, South London.

2. Everything’s Electric – Liam Gallagher

Obviously known for his days in Oasis and feuds with his brother Noel Gallagher, Liam came out with this electric banger in 2022 featuring Dave Grohl.

From his album C’Mon You Know, one of Liam’s many favourite catchphrases, Everything’s Electric isn’t about the electrification of the UK, many think the song is about the gloomy two years post Covid pandemic.

With glam-style guitars it’s an Oasis / Rolling Stones style song with Britpop vibes, Everything’s Electric is bound to be used for many electric programmes and projects over years to come.

3. Electric Feel – MGMT

American band MGMT were formed in 2002 and released this electric beauty in 2007 from the amazing album Oracular Spectacular.

The YouTube video below has been viewed over 150 million times, it was a big hit in Australia reaching number seven. It was covered by Katy Perry and incorporated into Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)’ during shows in Las Vegas. It’s been used in many different TV shows and soundtracks and we’re sure with it’s electrification lyrics will be used for many more years to come.

4. Electric Relaxation – A Tribe Called Quest

From the album Midnight Marauders, Electric Relaxation from A Tribe Called Quest was released in 1993. This old school hip hop tune samples ‘Mystic Brew’ from Ronnie Foster, with many referring to it as ‘jazz rap’.

ATCQ member Phife said they created the song in Q-Tip’s grandmother’s basement, they actually wrote each other’s lines for the song which is how it achieves it’s relentless back and forth style.

5. Together in Electric Dreams – The Human League

This mid 80s classic released in 1985 was written by Philip Oakley and Giorgio Moroder for the film ‘Electric Dreams’.

This song was a huge success powered by the film but surpassing the film in terms of popularity reaching no.3 in the UK charts.

Oakley stated it took ten minutes to record and has been used in many productions since including iconic game Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories.

6. Electricity – Dua Lipa

Featuring Mark Ronson and Silk City, Electricity was released in September 2018, it has disco house and electropop vibes but they also released an acoustic version later in the same year.

7. Electricity – Arctic Monkeys

Legendary Sheffield band the Arctic Monkeys released R U Mine? in 2012, an album which contains the song Electricity.

It’s a song about the kisses of his girlfriend filling him with electricity, nice and simple comparison and great song from an incredible UK band.

8. Electricityscape – Strokes

A rapid and haunting tune from The Stokes is a melancholic tune which states ‘I wish two drinks were always in me’.

From the album ‘First Impressions of Earth’, Electrcityscape is a alternative classic and many rate it up there as one of The Strokes best tunes.

With an incredible guitar hook it’s a song about relationships in the city and nights out.

9. Electricity – Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

Released in 1980, Electricity from OMITD was the first song that Paul Humphreys and Andy McCluskey wrote together.

It is a critically acclaimed song from the synth pop era and classed as a hugely influential single.

Unlike many of the other electric themed songs on this list, it’s actually about society’s wasteful nature of natural resources.

Pushed by radio legend John Peel, Electricity gained popularity in the UK fairly quickly. NME even stated the song was one of the most influential songs of the post-punk era.

10. She’s Electric – Oasis

We’ve had Liam Gallagher’s solo electric hit and now for his band – from their second classic album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory, She’s Electric was used as a promotional single, not surprising considering it’s catchiness!

Written by Noel Gallagher, it’s about a relationship between a man and his girlfriend’s unique and ‘electric’ family. Despite never being released as a proper single, it makes many best Oasis tune lists.

Recorded in 2010, another electro-rock / glam hit with an electricity theme, Electric Chapel is from Lady Gaga’s second album.

Bonus song: Danger! High Voltage by Electric Six

Ok so it’s not got the word electric in the title, but it’s a lot to do with electricity and it’s got electric in the group name, so that’s why this classic made it to the list as a bonus track…

Danger! High Voltage is a cult classic and has a crazy music video to match, which you can watch below.

It was released in 2003 and features vocals from Jack White from the White Stripes with Dick Valentine. The female in the Danger! High Voltage video is Tina Kanarek who helps to create this disturbing and legendary music video.

The song hit no. 2 in the UK music chart and NME gave it single of the week.
